Alright stitchers, put down your laying tools because it’s time for your favorite kind of news…

When it comes to supply shortages, the industry is still playing catch-up. But the needlepoint community is full of problem-solvers. Innovations, including custom 3D printed stretcher bars, possible canvas alternatives, creative self-finishing solutions, and more accurate canvas printing, are rolling in. There’s nothing the type A needlepoint community can’t overcome.

With the continued growth of needlepoint communities, shops are getting more and more creative with their events including stitching and mahjong, pool parties, LNS crawls, unique retreat experiences, and later business hours. Even with so many new faces, shop owners continue to know their customers better than they know themselves. Curation is the name of the game for LNS owners, and they’re killing it.

Ribbit, ribbit – frogs are making a comeback. The bean bag frog, a uniquely needlepoint finish, is hopping back on to the scene with fresh modern designs and various sizes. We love an adorable 3D finish that serves no other  purpose than an extra hit of dopamine.

Substack has been around for a while, with standouts like Hillary Fisk (@hifimakes) and Jinny Barney McAuliffe (@StitchStyleNeedlepoint) paving the way. As the platform gains popularity it’s increasingly used in the needlepoint community to share virtual lessons and connect on a more personal level with fellow stitchers! Lauren DeVous (@SequinlalaStitches) recently launched expanded programming via her Substack where you can ask for thread and stitch advice or follow along with her monthly stitch themes, which include a monthly stitch guide.

We’d like to end with a community note. Daydream Needlepoint shared her sister’s experience with domestic violence in a video posted to social media. The needlepoint community, especially Lycette Designs, have rallied around her in support. It’s a great reminder of how this hobby impacts lives. We encourage you all to listen to the video on her social channels and continue to support fellow stitchers.
