Letter from the Editors

If you’ve followed Threadlines from the beginning on social media, you know this show started just for fun, with the goal of making people smile or laugh — but over the last year, it’s become so much more. That’s when Caitlin started dreaming of more.

Those dreams took the shape of a modern needlepoint magazine, one that would meet the growing groups of Millennial and Gen Z stitchers where they’re at, while never losing sight of the stitchers who’ve been around a lot longer. At first, it seemed like just that — a distant dream. Until Caitlin and Maureen met briefly at the Welcome Fall needlepoint retreat at St. Louis’s Needlepoint Clubhouse. That fateful introduction would turn the dream into a reality.

We both noticed a need to bring together the designers, shops, community, and stories behind every stitch in this fast-paced world. There’s so much news and so many cool stories to share. They just needed a home. We’re excited to serve the community in this way, providing everything from stitching tips to looks inside the communities and designers making needlepoint what it is today. As two journalists and ambitious stitchers, our strengths complement each other, and we quickly hit it off! We’re so excited to bring this passion project to life and share it with all of you. This magazine is for stitchers new and experienced, shop owners, designers — in short, for anyone who believes needlepoint is more than a hobby. It’s a culture. Our goal is to celebrate this community, preserve its stories, and create something you’ll want to keep on your coffee table, or next to your stitching chair. We hope you’ll enjoy reading!
